Today I attended the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) event RealtorQuest. The keynote speaker was Commander Chris Hadfield. I had the privilege of seeing @Cmdr_Hadfield earlier in the year in Ottawa and my first thought is I’ve seen him and I really don’t need to attend again. Boy was I wrong.
A couple of things really hit me. FIRST – Once is never enough! – we tend to be in different spaces at different times and maybe the message just doesn’t hit us. I hesitate at times to repeat and repeat the same message. Today was an excellent reminder that its OK to repeat the message. It doesn’t always have the same impact if its not repeated.
SECOND – Confirmed my beliefs about leadership. Leadership is not about LEADING. Many people believe it is. Leadership is about helping to create great LEADERS. If you’ve done your job these folks are better leaders that you are. Thats what its all about. You inspire, you educate and you let them lead.
